Archaeology

In our Archaeology Room you'll find artefacts dating from the Bronze Age, Roman and Anglo Saxon times. The items include three tiny but exquisite decorated pieces of gold.

We have a collection of objects lost by local people over the past millennium in and around the villages of Sporle & Palgrave. These range from Roman ampulla to World War Two cap badges, all re-discovered by Monique Slaven who spent 25 years field walking with her metal detector.

Fossils are on view, a good selection Devil's Toenails and God's Darts plus a Mammoth's tooth.
